For New Yorkers, this launch couldn’t have come at a better time. We know that the traditional car rental experience is broken in New York. Travelers are typically saddled with the highest rental car prices in the country, terrible selection, and poor service. We plan to offer a better alternative for Turo guests than the car rental behemoths in New York and are currently curating a roster of independent, licensed, and insured car rental entrepreneurs of all sizes to do so. So, in early 2021, keep your eyes peeled for an announcement on the exact timing of our launch with Commercial Hosts in New York.
The future of peer-to-peer car sharing in New York
New York is one of the most popular travel destinations in the US, and we are very excited about the opportunity to reenter the state and work with our Commercial Host partners to bring one-of-a-kind Turo experiences to New Yorkers and visitors alike.
In the coming months, we anticipate big things in New York from our Commercial Hosts and we plan to build on that momentum by working with the New York State Legislature to get our peer-to-peer business back in the state soon as possible.
